Image Submission Guidelines
At Small Business Technology Magazine, we like to balance our articles with images that help capture our readers’ attention and make it easier for them to understand and retain the topics we cover. When submitting images to accompany a proposed article, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- We accept photographs, artwork/illustrations, figures (tables, charts), screen captures and checklists.
- Images must comply with copyright laws. Authors are responsible for securing and maintaining releases when sourcing 3rd party images .
- We do not typically run product screen shots or Web site screen shots unless they illustrate a specific case study.
- We reserve the right to crop, sharpen, retool or recreate images.
- We will always credit the original source of images submitted by our contributors. We strive to maintain the integrity and format of any images submitted to our editorial team.
To submit images:
- Please name your file in a way that makes it easy for our editors and designers to pair the image with a specific article and issue.
- Submit images via email to editor@sbtechnologymagazine.org as separate files at highest resolution possible to assure the best print quality. Jpeg & Tiff files are preferred for digital photos and images, 300 dpi or greater. BMP files are also ok.
- We accept vector illustrations in EPS or AI format.
- Do not embed images in MS Word documents. Instead, please embed a reference in [brackets] within the article to associate the placement of an image with its related text.
- Submit sources and narrative captions (~20 words) with each image.
- Photos, including digital photographs of authors, must be in color, with neutral, light-colored backgrounds at 5 mega pixels or greater. We recommend traditional “head & shoulders” shots with formal business attire.
