Tips for Proposals
  • We have hundreds of proposed articles in consideration with the Editorial Review Board at any one time. Most proposals are submitted as full drafts that are ready to publish. To ensure you have the most competitive proposal possible, we strongly encourage authors and their representatives to submit full length drafts.
  • Include a real small business example in your article and send us a photo and logo of the small business
  • Readers favor articles that incorporate tip lists, features to look for and lessons learned. Include suggested sidebars, callouts or checklists.
  • Include recommended figures, conceptual diagrams and illustrations
  • Include 3-5 additional websites where readers can learn more information on the subject
Tips for case studies
  • Do not submit case studies that have been published in print, on the web or in collateral
  • Include Business profile (background, market served, # employees, # locations)
  • Articulate the business problem and implications
  • Either written by the key sponsor inside the small business or include quotes from them
  • Technology barriers leading to business problem
  • Explain the technology solutions considered
  • Evaluation criteria & decision drivers for technology solution(s) chosen
  • Present quantifiable results achieved with the new approach
  • IT infrastructure (describe the network environment, types of software and hardware being used including brands and models if relevant, and integration with other business systems); include diagram of IT environment
  • Lessons learned
  • Helpful resources (including web sites consulted)
  • Stock photography from the small business – for example, photo of their headquarters, lobby, employees interacting with customers/clients, their products in use with their customers.
