A new report that explores how small companies approach the challenge of managing and supporting their technology assets.
Andrea Peiro of the Small Business Technology Institute (SBTI) says small businesses are quickly realizing that Information Technology (IT) infrastructures are essential to operate effectively and profitably, and that supporting and maintaining hardware, software, networks and websites can be a very onerous task for a small company.
This Snap Insight report, based on a survey of 144 U.S. small businesses with 100 or fewer employees, uncovers three critical trends:
- Small businesses tend to allocate very limited human and financial resources to support their IT functions;
- Small businesses approach the IT support task on a reactive basis;
- Small businesses rely heavily on the tactical support provided by product vendors.
